Anyone wrote AM section with pencil and passed ?

First of all congrats to all who have passed !

Second, thanks for all the brilliant advise people give here. I wasn’t able to pass this year, but want to give a solid shot next year. I quantifying my shortcomings, formulating strategy and think handwriting needs to be worked upon. Actually I am more comfortable with pencil and have checked with CFAI (but they suggest pen, but pencil is also okay)

It would be great help, if guys who used pencil and cleared, could please advise. Another advantage is that, you can erase and write again. Thanks for all the help.

i wrote AM in pencil and passed

i too wondered what happened to me in AM session when i failed at my first try with level 3. I think it is often overlooked - most people are not used to writing for that long, and i’m guessing with added pressure, long hours etc. my handwriting could’ve been toally messed up.

Normally i’m fine/reasonable with handwriting, but i was wondering that was my issue last time. So this time i took bit more care about what i write, and whether it looks legible or not. Passed it this time, but also obviously, i was more prepared in subject matter, and timing aspect of it for 2nd go around.

Thanks Prozario annd JMSP for your inputs

one simple thing that I was not doing iin the years I did not pass, but used when I did pass last year

– Write each AM Question Section on its own page. So Part A on Page 1, Part B on Page 2, if Part C was a template - then on the template Page - and then on to Part D on its own page.

– this gave me ample room to scratch out the entire answer if it came to that.

– Also on template questions where I was required to circle a choice and justify the choice - I would use pencil to circle the choice.

I used pencil and have horrible handwriting and passed

Thanks cpk123, it is good advise to write one part on each page. I’ll keep that in mind.

Yes, daminescu … excatly same problem i am facing, this time, i’ have decided to use pencil. Thanks for confirming !
