Let’s say (hypothetically) that I have a very good grasp on all of the CFA level 1 material, are there any other certifications or designations that I should be able to easily obtain? CFP or anything like that? I figure since this is the “hardest” one, there has to be something that I could easily get. Thanks in advance.
In terms of recognition, I can say there are certain certifications such as FRM but they have their own purpose… I believe CFA is something for those analysts in investment banking while FRM is for those measuring the risks of a product. so am not sure if there is any substitute for CFA at this time.
if seeking something easy, then why dont you try indian CFA from ICFAI, but keep in mind no employer respect this designation
CFA offered by ICFAI, which I believe has changed name from CFA to something else… I doubt you can compare with CFA by CFAI … both of them are quite different and for different audience, if you know what I mean. Let us not make an ego issue on completing CFA … let us genuinely respect those preparing and taking it and cracking it too…
I have heard that there is a little bit of an overlap between level I and FRM. But the FRM is all about risk management. Just know which field you want to get into and get the relevant designation(s). No point collecting ‘easy’ designations to put on your business card. Just my O.O2
Everything depends on what you want to be, there are a number of Professional designation out there catering for different segments of the industry. If you want to be a tax specialist or accountant, then a CPA/CGA/ACCA/CA will make more sense that a CFA. It all depends in what you want to become as a professional. Another well respected designation is a CFP, however bear in mind this is more financial planning centric that Investment/Analytical centric. Though having both if you are a financial planner/financial advisor/ Investment Counsellor is amazing ( Thats what I am striving towards).
