Regarding the 2 references that you’ll need to submit in order to earn the charter, do they have to come from existing CAIA charter members or just anyone in a professional capacity?
Thanks Jcrick. Peteus, I don’t have a clue about the letters. Once you have passed Level II, the CAIA website gives brief indications of what to do next, which requires hitting a damn button “submit application” or something like that. I hit nothing thus far ! Need to decide whether I want to register right now or not. I would assume that the letters can come from any professional and not just charterholders otherwise one would have a rough time getting the two considering how small the pool of CAIA brothers is.
Extracts from CAIA Members’ Corner FAQ (which only appears to me after I have completed the application and paid $250) - Professional References: Requirements for Serving as a Professional Reference; Contacting Professional References Q: Do my references have to be CAIA members? A: No, your references do not need to be CAIA members. Your references may belong to any organization as long as they have relevant information regarding your professional experience. Q: Can you tell me who will be contacting my professional references, so I can alert them? A: We do not contact professional references on a routine basis. However, we reserve the right to contact all references in the event that we perform a random audit of your professional and educational experience requirements.
>… considering how small the pool of CAIA brothers is Thanks for the info. That’s exactly what I was worrying about
Good information, I didn’t even think of this…I wonder how many “will you be my CAIA reference” threads would pop up if this was the case.
LOL I should admit that the application was done far less difficult and clumsy than I expected
Seriously? The concept of an essay is just out of practice for me, but should be ok with preparation…hopefully
MHO - understand the stuff but don’t be lazy to recite a bit of the key materials for essays as (1) time is tight and (2) panic candidates would more or less affect the ordinary logic and thinking outside the exam hall. Btw, I suggest learning and remembering the formula instead of searching for the right ones from the screen during MC section. Time is particularly precious that morning.
Some good advice HK3 thanks for the heads up. They apparently added a couple new articles to L2 this year. I think with practice comes basic comprehension and memorization, so memorizing the formulas should be a byproduct of that process anyways…well at least I hope.
Well done! After signing membership agreement and payment of fee I joined to CAIA members. Three kee points after first three minutes of being a member: I see a lot of valuable postings dated April 09 on CAIA members job board. The certificate will be mailed during first two months of membership. No CPD requirements! Let us be class 2009 in membership roster!!! YeeS_Mos, CAIA
