http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?13,1193107,page=1 Link of people who posted their age after passing this year. Average: 29.4 Median: 28 Min: 22 Max: 40 Count: 53 (I excluded the guy who said he was 77…I don’t think he was telling the truth…)

Wow that breakdown is young. The median age has to be skewed to the downside somewhat. I can’t imagine there are too many 35+ year old candidates surfing anonymous chat forums. Looks like I have 4 years to pass LIII before I start to appear old. Give it 10 years and the median age for LIII passers will be 25

I’d say that sounds about right. Maybe a couple years young. I think about the guys in the room with me this year and they were all around my age (29). Only saw one or two guys that looked 35+.

Most of the people whom I know that took level 3 was about 24-28. 26 is probably the mean. Not all of them passed but I think this is a bit of a younger bunch. Pretty much all of these people started taking the CFA right after college or a year after.

As of 2009 age range of CANDIDATES for Level II was: Age range, % of test takers 21-25 = 23% 26-30 = 41% 31-35 = 21% 36-40 = 10% 40 + = 5% So to start a Level III Candidate has to be minimum of 1 year older. Level II and III pass rates being well below 50% that should add 1 -2 more years so my guess is around 30 -31. I’m one of the 40+ that hope to pass L3 in 2011
