Background Check

Hiya Homies,

I’ve taken a summer internship in AM with a BB (Goldman or JP - I won’t say which but they are all about the same for the purposes of my question). I understand they will do a background check. How invasive will this be? What will it entail?

I don’t have any arrest records or outstanding warrants (unlike some of you). Will they want all my tax info for the past gazillion years? I have lived in a whole bunch of weird countries and worked in weird jobs since I graduated from college so coming up with such records might be tough.

I’ve gone about scrubbing the internet of anything related to me which might be unsavory. I figure this will be a fairly cursory background check, but just wanted to be sure.

Thanks

TRH

^ Who is the provider of the background check? Kroll? Checkpoint?

They may ask for copies of your W2s, but if this has not been asked already, I doubt they will later.

Don’t sweat it homie. I’ve been arrested and charged with several misds, it never has been a problem with a standard run of the mill background check.

I don’t know yet whom. But ill google those two and see what they normally check.

Haha, make sure your facebook account is clean to start

I wouldn’t be too worried about it. They will probably search for convictions above maybe Misdameanor B, and do a credit check.

^ With the credit check, what would be a problem? Being bankrupt? Or just having a shitty score. I don’t have a credit history having lived overseas.

i doubt they will care about how good your credit scoreis.

They farm this out to a third party company. I would expect a BB to be very thorough. They typically do a criminal background check for police records, they can do a credit check, they can check your education, GPA etc, and verify your former employers. It really just depends on the firm. But if you’ve lived in foreign countries, they may not necessarily be able to contact former employers so you could potentially get off easy. (They may ask for pay stubs/W2 etc).

Congrats, what will you be doing?

Both companies usually go back 20 years. They check counties that you have lived, all your driving violations (I heard stores that you can get dinged for speeding). They definitely review all your taxes and make sure you did correct deductions as well.

Good luck, clearing background check is the most difficult part in interview process!

I would just give them access to your AF account. Tells them everything they need to know :).

Basically employment and criminal background. Most likely via Kroll. As long as you aren’t a lying f*ck you will be fine. Good luck.

^ this. company only cares if you have worked whre you said you have worked, and you don’t have a criminal record

Yes, having declared bankruptcy in the last (I think) 7 years generally disqualifies you from most jobs - at least the good ones.

Also, unless you are going to top 3, they may check to be sure you’ve applied the hacksaw.

yeah, and if you haven’t already applied the hacksaw, you can give them twenty bucks and they’ll do it for you. don’t forget to tip.

I think in Germany having been bankrupt is a problem for working in Banks/Investment Banks.

Shut down your twitter, facebook and pornhub account

Giving up the boss lifestyle in India? What will your driver do for worK?

It’s much harder to claim bankruptcy in Germany than in the States.
