Best Financial Modeling book?????

Hi guys, I have intermediate Excel skill (with finance background and just took cfa level 1 last week) but I would like to be able to use Excel VBA to create financial models and enhance my practical skills (not employed yet T.T ) Can you guys recommend me with a book that teaches you both the financial modeling skills and Excel VBA skills? Thank you in advance!

Ask QQQbbe and stop T.T (You won’t get this…) Anyway, check below: http://www.amazon.com/Financial-Modeling-Simon-Benninga/dp/0262026287/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1307578966&sr=1-1 http://www.amazon.com/Investment-Banking-Valuation-Leveraged-Acquisitions/dp/0470442204/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307578934&sr=8-1

Benninga

i have the benninga but i need more complex material… investment banking valuation seems good for m&a work but i was looking more into VBA oriented financial modeling… any other suggestion?

Just throw some money at Wallstreet prep (www.wallstreetprep.com) or training the street (www.trainingthestreet.com). But some bookwise I would recommend: Benninga Corporate Financial Analysis with Excel (http://www.amazon.com/Corporate-Financial-Microsoft-McGraw-Hill-Investing/dp/0071628851) and http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Financial-Modelling-Second-practice/dp/0750686472/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1307593367&sr=1-1 isn’t too bad

thanks a bunch guys appreciate the help as always!!

In my opinion modelling books suck… best way to learn it is to practice, modelling job or internship, mentoring etc. Otherwise you will gonna fell a sleep in front of a text book explaining what is a VLOOKUP function… (my case)

I second kirso’s comment. on the job learning is best. or try researching a stock you like and write your own DCF / market-valuation analysis.

yeah…thats what im trying to do adalfu. i basically got nothing else to do over summer except easy summer course and i wanted make most out of this time. i wanted to apply my cfa level 1 material and school material + the books that you guys have mentioned just to see what i get. i know some of u might laugh at me bc using cfa lvl1 and school (top tier school in canada) is pretty worthless…but ima just gonna give a shot…

http://pages.stern.nyu.edu/~adamodar/ If you really have nothing to do over summer, just take one of his classes online for free (either valuation or CF). You can literally print out his presentations and tests, download excel templates and watch his classes from beginning to end. I did it while I was in undergrad (didn’t go to NYU) and it helped me a lot.

thanks dhyun3 this is really helpful

Finance 3.0 I think has a basic financial modeling guide for free. They also have some members that post sample models on their forums for people to look at and critique, give suggestions, etc. Just google finance 3.0 to find their website. For the most part, like some have mentioned, you’d learn more on the job. But it can never hurt to get familiar with the main concepts, and some of the resources have some pretty interesting suggestions/ideas.
