NYC has its issues for sure. The main thing it brings is sheer size and diversity in a seemingly endless metropolis. It makes most other North American cities look like towns or sprawling suburbs.
I do get the appeal tbh (although the infrastructure problems are real), I just like stirring it up with them NYC city folk. I also get the appeal of Denver although criticisms are real.
You have no chill dude. Normally I’d offer to meet up for beers and go network with you, especially since I too live right next to Wash Park (srs, run it every day. I live the other side of i25 on Franklin), however, you just bashed my favorite city on earth and proved yourself to be a huge uncultured swine.
honest we are us biased. i think if i were to have an idiot son. i would want him to live in a a place where they care for weak people. i’m thinkin france, belgium, netherlands. gemany and the nordic coutnries. the more developed/socialist the country the better.
It’s always super helpful to get opinions on NYC from people who’ve been to one, maybe two of its boroughs. Please, can you guys opine on best practices for grooming minature poodles as well? I’m keenly interested in your take on things you know nothing about.
LMAO seen em all. Spoilers for those who haven’t been, the infrastructure and grime doesn’t get better.
Always super helpful hearing about how great NYC is from clowns who’ve been to one, maybe two major Asian cities. Please, can you guys opine on sjkfajs;dlfj alsdhg kuashg kjhk
Love Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland…but just darn far if you call North America or Europe home. I think the NY bashing is justified, but not because of the lousy infrastructure – if you live in Manhattan you don’t really notice it. The cost of living in NY rises so much faster than any other city – you can make a few hundred grand and if you have kids, you’re still middle class. Money aside, it is a very nice place to live.
Grew up in Norther CT, so I’m a Boston fan. For south, I second Charlotte. But I’ll probably retire to Charlottesville - good weather, and with UVA there, lots of culture. And being in the South, I can cycle most of the year.
Public transport is meh. It’s not terrible, but frequently overcrowded and with delays around rush hour (mostly the T). I love the winter though, colder and stormier the better.
Spent a good amount of time in all of those places you mentioned and others. Sure Singapore and Shanghai are newer looking and generally cleaner, but wow do they get boring really fast. Little diversity and lack much character (even HK is easily better than Shanghai or SG). Mumbai, what??? Lolz. Dude a city is much more than just shiny new buildings and such. That’s why most NY’ers don’t like Midtown or Fidi.
Now you might be on to something with the Aussie cities, but haven’t been there.
