Big 4 Audit versus Big 4 Valuation

Hey fellas,

I have recently been offered a position in valuation analysis (PPA, goodwill impairment, businesses/equity/debt valuation, PP&E valuation, RE valuation), and I am pondering over whether this would be a good move for career at this point. I graduated last year and have a little over a year of experience in audit.

I figure that this job is way more interesting than audit and is definitely in line with my aspirations, but isn’t it too soon to jump ship? I am also concerned regarding the lack of strategic thinking in valuation analysis. Could this job lead to something like corporate finance/development, ER, or PE?

Let me know what you guys think!

I believe the work is more interesting and better exit opportunities (IMO) but won’t lead to ER but could lead to other corp finance roles and maybe valuation for a PE firm.

I’d take it, it’ll be better than audit.

I’d take that in a heartbeat if I were in your shoes. A year is long enough in a role these days. Go for it and don’t look back.

take it.

first few years out of school you can jump around provided you stay about a year at each job it won’t look bad on you. This role will be a good one to add to your ‘story’ when you go for the dream jobs

That’s what I tought! Thanks guys!
