Birthday cake maker recommendations in NYC?

Looking to pick up a custom-made birthday cake for my kid-cousin. Not looking for anything too over the top, just someone that can make a cake in the design of his favorite football team’s logo or something like that.

Anyone here have recommendations for good cake makers in NYC?

The Cake Boss is just across the river in Hoboken if you have a few hours to spend waiting on a line…

Thanks, sounds interesting but ideally I’d like to pre-order something and have it picked up or delivered in Midtown Manhattan. I’m fine with waiting as long as it’s like a few minutes as opposed to a few hours.

Just go on Yelp brah. You don’t want a bunch of financiers pretending to be M’n’A’in on the Buyside in Midtown to give you recos.

Hahaha…well, I’m a man of the people, so I figured all my cronies on this here forum would be able to help out. Especially any of you broski’s that have great intellect and exquisite tastes.

cake should be designed like this for the little one

^ I think that’s CvM’s actual old school briefcase.

Get somebody who lives in Hoboken to get it. There’s a seperate line for Hobokenites.

Jon Corzine should have some spare time on his hands these days.

OK let me know how I can hire them, maybe I will put a listing on TaskRabbit.com or Craigslist and see if anyone wants to make a few extra bucks.

I fear that Cake Boss can now never live up to the hype from the TV show. Certainly, there are other good bakeries in NY with equally skilled bakers, and for which you don’t have to wait in line for 3 hours. Of course, you could order a $50k cake from Carlo’s and maybe you will have a chance to be on TV.

But I generally agree with ohai. It’s probably over-hyped and not worth it.

Costco cakes are freaking amazing, and cheap

hard to beat them for the money

for real

Costco has some good stuff. There was one time where Costco got their hands on a ton of Omega Seamaster’s and was selling them at discount. Of course, Swatch then came and sued Costco for copyright infringement (Costco violated the exclusivity of Swatch to sell Omega watches). Once in a while, other stuff like this comes up. One time, Costco sold a bunch of Kenneth Cole puffy jackets, and then after that, I saw everyone in San Francisco wearing that jacket…

go to one of those Korean bakeries along Korean Way shun.

Numi, your post reminded me of this, which I saw on the same day. However, since your occasion is probably passed by now, I can post it without threadjacking:

I know a fantastic bakery, but you’re probably not interested in making the trip down to central NJ.

Seems to me like half the cakes there are from Shark Tank.

just dont go here yikes
