I don’t have access to Bloomberg terminals at my company, but I would like to create a Bloomberg account for myself. Can anybody let me know if there’s a way to do so from somewhere externally? I am in NYC and have tried the SIBL Bloomberg terminals too, they are all preconfigured with some default “Hello John” login’s Any help/inputs would be appreciated.
212-318-2000 is Bloomberg’s customer support line. Ask them.
I just called the same number “Bloomberg Customer Support Number: 212.318.2000” before putting the concern here on the forum. They couldn’t help
Last I heard, Bloomberg Accounts were $1,700 a month - - I haven’t heard of this feature before and thought they only had one option for people / businesses.
Can’t you create an account on the terminal you have access to? That’s the only way that I know that you can create an account.
yea dude, you need to pay to have an account. I have one, but my company takes care of the bill.
We have shared logins at my work instead of individual logins. Can’t quite remember how I set it up, but I remember they had to call my work number to confirm I was who I said I was and I had to run across the room to pick it up.
"{Can anybody let me know if there’s a way to do so from somewhere externally? " Yes it’s possible. Most universities with MBA/finance programs have bloomberg terminals in the business library. You can register an account on those terminals (for free). You give them your cell phone number and Bloomberg calls you to verify the account. The $1700/mo is to rent a terminal + data service, but this isn’t necessary for creating an account.
Thanks Isura - I knew something of that sort was really possible. Anyone know’s where can I find one such free terminal to create an account?

I did this at my University but that will not give you Bloomberg Anywhere which I think is what he wants.

mpnoonan, he just wants an access (account). He doesn’t want B-Anywhere access. Thanks, Anish
Hi, If you live in SW Connecticut you could go to Greenwich library. There is a BB terminal for free. Good luck !
As anishcandy corectly understands my concern, I need to just create a bloomberg account (username/password). So are there public BBerg terminals in NYC which I can use and setup a account? As also mentioned above - I tried the NYPL-SIBL Bloomberg terminals and they don’t allow the create new accounts. I also think anybody can do it for me, as long as it’s my cell phone number that they verify the account on.
why do you want to set up an account? i don’t think you can access it outside of the terminal that it was created on.
I need to register for a session with Bloomberg in NYC but their prerequisites being that I should already have a account on BT. So the desperation.

So the desperation. Are you talking about the certification program sessions? They have videos you can watch instead. PS: The certification is BS. You have to take a quiz at the end and must pass by scoring 80 or above. But the answers to the quizzes are already available on Bloomberg. Dont even bother, its useless
Exactly the reason I needed the account. They conduct the sessions and let me take the exams there too. I heard it’s a complete BS thing and a complete waste of time and resource, but me from IT background, they should atleast be noticable to some extent. Basically it’s all about resume cooking!

I have that on my resume and have never been asked what it was. I have a feeling that many people know its useless. Learning Bloomberg is not rocket science and I don’t think it makes any candidate stand out. Speaking of which, I think its time I take it off of my resume. Complete waste of space. If you use Bloomberg at work, then just mention that in the interview that you use it and at familiar with the platform.
If I saw a resume that had a Bloomberg certification I would think less of the person. Bloomberg is something you use and just pickup. Like does anyone have a ms office certificate that they denote on their resume. Or better yet a TI BAII+ caculator certificate?
