Books you’re reading

Anybody have any good book recommendations? Admittedly lately I’ve been especially lazy and have been listening to audio books instead of actual reading. I’ve taken a liking to them

Just finished the 48 laws of power, which is interesting and I took a few things away from it. If you get the audio book the guy narrating sounds like he’s possessed but does a fine job of driving the point home. I’d recommend it.

Now im halfway through Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss… guys a retired FBI hostage negotiator and has some interesting insight into negotiation tactics. I’ve been trying some of these on the old lady. She’s pretty keen so I’ll report back when i have a sustainable sample size.

Not big on fiction but open to suggestions .

Edit: Charlie and hpracing: before you suggest it, I’ve read the reviews of The Art of the Deal and the feedback is terrible.

Zen Mind, Beginners Mind
Three Pillars of Zen
The Long Walk
The New Testament
The Law of One
Fingerprints of the Gods
Light on Life (Iyengar)

Tao Te Ching and Bhagavad Gita are two other really important books. Both are great on audio.

Influence - Robert Cialdini, book about psychology
The Way of the Wolf - Jordan Belfort, book about salemanship
Fortune’s Formula - William Poundstone, book about the Kelly Criteria and interesting characters around it

The Art of the Deal is actually one of my favorite books, a lot of the bad reviews are fake, sad.

Spoken like a true troller. In all seriousness some of these look pretty interesting.

But Charlie can I get the New Testament in audio book format?

e-books are looking good at the moment (as are audio books) from the point of view of minimizing contact with delivery folks etc.

i honestly stopped reading completely by the time i hit hs. it was when i realzied it was more efficient to just read other people summaries rather than thinking for myself. i literally didnt even read the cfa books. i just watched vids and did practice exams.
anyways what i am currntly watching on youtube is a pretty detailed biography on julius caesar. it breaks down his entire career and rise to power until his assasination and funeral. its straight to business which is what like. none of the fluff you see in typical documentaries.

for example this is the ides of march vid. his funeral was pretty inteersting too. they talked about marc antony’s speech. which is nothing like the shakespeare friend’s romans and countrymen ■■■■.

this is the enitre playlist.

Read “Why we want you to be rich” by somebody unimportant and Donald Trump. But only read Trump’s part.

For fiction, I like Conn Iggulden’s books: war of the roses, Emperor and Conqueror series.

For non-fiction/ personal development, I really liked The Slight Edge. Pretty repetetive but very good in overall. 12 Rules for Life was also solid.

Did you miss the part where he said he’s not really into fiction?

“When a foolish man hears the Truth, he laughs out loud.”

I’m reading a terrific history book. It’s called Washington’s End: The Final Years and Forgotten Struggle. Barnes & Noble link is here: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/washingtons-end-jonathan-horn/1132188915
Amazon link is here: https://www.amazon.com/Washingtons-End-Final-Forgotten-Struggle-ebook/dp/B07TGF8958/

It’s a real page-turner.
