CFA exams do not teach the technical skills required to ‘code’ the models used within BI tools. However, they give you a much more important skill. CFA help you make sense of the data by giving you the foundation to understanding the data. Intricately understanding your domain (ie investments) is the foundation to build a financial model within Business Analytics / Intelligence.

Yes, I work for a firm which deals with a lot of data & I can just say that being a CFA charterholder helps in providing credibility to any analytical work you are doing. More importantly, it gives you the financial background needed to do financial intelligence.
