Because for the 10 billionth time, you think you’re gonna get the jump on someone who’s totally preped with a basement full of AR’s who’s been training for this shit since day one? You’d be like f*cking cattle to the slaughter with your monkey style kung fu or whatever.
Just read the thread before you post. It’s been beaten to death. You wouldn’t be able to locate these places for starters, then if you did, you’d likely be shot before you even knew you’d wandered into unfriendly territory then they’d feed you to their dog and wear your skin as a blanket.
I’ve heard that arguement before and it didn’t play out too well for the guy making it.
Overall I just think it’s a big waste of time and energy to prepare for the end of society because in the end its unlikely you’ll have a life worth living anyway. Plus you sound like a fuckin nut if anyone else finds out about your little hobby.

I agree with you to an extent - I would not care to live in the post-apocalyptic world depicted by some science fiction movies. However, in the event of an economic collapse and / or civil unrest, I would be glad to live out my remaining years on a self-sufficient “Red State Ranch.” Look, if you hoard food and ammo, run preparedness drills, and wear a bucket cap indoors, you are probably a nut job. If someone’s “little hobby” consists of saving $50 / month for land, owning a pair of firearms, and reading about sustainable aquaculture on the weekend, I would be inclined to consider that person more pragmatic than deranged.
I can dodge bullets, mufugga. All about the skillz
“…I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.”
I’m just speaking from experience here, I used to counsell this native kid who grew up hunting and trapping in the Yukon and like you thought he was hard as fuck because he could kill a deer from 400 yards. October 2011 they found him in an alley cut up with his pinky fingers missing. Those are the types of animals you’re going to be dealing with and if you think your mountain climbing gear and your navy seal buddy’s are going to keep you safe, well good luck with that.
Lol, so the fact that he got mugged when he probably wasn’t armed undermines the whole thesis? Haha. Nice tirade though. I have a concealed weapons permit and I (along with my brothers and father) exercise that right. And my Dad started me shooting around the age of 6 (he’d hold the rifle and we’d sight and fire). I wouldn’t be relying on mountain climbing gear or a “navy seal buddy”, in that exact situation any opponent of mine would LITERALLY be bringing a knife to a gun fight. And that my friend is the idea behind being prepared. Your little story has pretty much no basis in making a point. Other than the fact that random people can get mugged by people with superior weapons.
What’s been frustrating me is the weak straw man counter arguments people are trying to bring because they simply want to try to argue without actually having a point.
Being prepared for a situation > Not being prepared for a situation.
I’m rolling in bodi’s camp. We coming bs. Get your humpty bumpkin hombres ready for a rumble. We’re gonna take your fortress just because then drive off in our armored European cars.
And I know 3 dudes who were raised in the country - they’re coming too.
Lol, no you don’t get it. I don’t really know what your point is or how you think any of what you just said amounts to logic. So what, he got tortured after someone grabbed him when he was presumably unarmed. It’s obviously clear that either way he wasn’t prepared. You think the guys that got the drop on him are somehow more effective fighters immune to the laws or preparation and combat training because they torture people? How immune was Bin Laden (despite his penchant for terrorism and running Al Quaida who loved cutting people’s heads off) when Seal Team 6 rolled up on him? Serial killers and terrorists are all hard and predatory right up until the FBI kicks the door in. The laws of combat are unchanged. regardless of what someone chooses to do should they get the upper hand. The Japanese thought it was a great idea to practice fanaticism and torture on the battlefield, including cutting the genitals off US soldiers and leaving them in their mouths in early conflicts. Then we dropped two atomic warheads on them.
Nothing personal Black Swan I enjoy your posts but what you seem to miss is if the world was coming to an end you wouldn’t be going anywhere. In the CA Bay area during rush hour I am not going anywhere. The roads are flooded. I don’t seem to understand how you think you are going to get in your car and take a leisurely ride to your piece of land in the middle of nowhere. It is not going to happen. And whatever gun you seem to think is going to protect you is going to be worthless.
I get that, but what if you can see the writing on the wall (ie economic collapse)? There would certainly be time to get out of dodge. Sure, there are some deranged folks who would not think twice about harming others to survive. However, I am inclined to believe that, all else being equal, the prepared invididual stands a better chance of survival than someone who gives absolutely no thought to their own subsistence.
