CAIA Level of Difficulty

Hi All

If the CFA test level of difficulty is 100

what is CAIA level of difficulty? Can it be 50?

Thank you for your comments.

I’d rank the whole program (1 and 2) as between 30 and 40. There’s an updated curriculum comming out next year so that might change in the future.

The test are about equally as hard.

However, passing the test apperas to much easier. I think you are definitely graded on a sliding scale with CAIA. Even the way they have your scores set up makes it appear this way, showing how you did vs the lowest decile of passers.

The takeaway from this, make sure that you’re in the top 50 percent of test takes.

Just take the test with gaining knowledge as your main goal - the more invested you become in just learning as opposed to worrying about pass grades the better you will do on the exam, and the better chance you will have passing.

It’s a tough enough test but the material isn’t as broad as the CFA. So it just takes less time, which made it feel easier for me.

^ this is probably true as well. Smaller curriculum for sure. Also a ,it of it is overlap with cfa so that makes it feel especially shorter. Still, I don’t know how this test goes for someone. With zero cfa experience and zero finance education. I’d never pass it.

^Agreed.
