Can those who are blind take the CFA?

Is the curriculum available in braille?

writing CFA in braille is a VIOLATION.

I worked at a big bank where one of the fixed income managers was blind, he had a Braille keyboard attached to his computer.

Those are two separate questions. I’m sure blind people can sign up for the CFA exams. However, there is no braille curriculum.

You have to blind to enroll in the cee eff ay.

I’d put my money on you can write it if you’re blind. I’m almost positive the text isn’t provided in braille. But, as you know, there are many auditory lesson preps. And when it comes to test time I’m sure the CFAI would gladly lend out a proctor to be a ‘seeing-eye dog’ (so to speak) when it comes to filling in the bubbles and reading the questions.

How would you deal with a calculator on the exam?

i would commend any blind individual who can pass the CFA exams and somehow have a successful finance career. imagine a blind trader. it would be so hard to keep up with everything that is going on if you are unable to read things quickly.

a blind trader might actually perform better than a lot of people out there

He claimed he had an advantage over his sighted competitors because he could “see” 3 sides at once. Back on topic, I’d be curious how, or if, the ADA applies to the exam in the US.

An article written in korean indicates that a person was assigned to read out the problems and calculator answers.

If a visually impaired person can pass the CFA test, I’m sure anyone who is dedicated can!

i worked for many years with an absolute legend called Frank at a brokerage in London,…the guy was nearly 70 years old, blind, and surrounded by career hungry guys in their mid twenties, like myself, and he put us all to shame. He would read the stock prices from a Braille Ticker tape sat on his desk, and would speak to all his clients on his phone while entering trades on some indecipherable Braille keyboard PC…many, many clients who called in would insist they be put through to Frank…he never missed a single beat…great guy, and the heartbeat of the desk.

Definitely taught me a thing or two about being asuccessful trader against all odds.
