CBT Exam Arrival Time

Hi, used to be that 30minutes before the exam you had to be in the room. Is that still the case with CBT that they won’t let you in after that? In any case will be there early enough but did not find anything regarding that in the info.

I’ve taken several exams at Prometric. Typically you want to be there early to make sure you get checked in on time. But they don’t force you to be there early and close the door. It’s a public test center with people coming in and out for different tests for different topics occurring in parallel to each other.

So do i assume im going to be regularly interrupted by people coming and going throughout exam day?

i see at my test center you have a 30min break, which is optional.

The disruption is minimal, you have headphones and everyone is mostly sitting and taking exams of similar length etc. This is the same sort of situation one faces with computerized licensing exams etc. There will be a break after section 1 where, when you’re done, a 30 minute timer will start before section 2 begins. You can take all of that time, you can take part of it, or you can skip directly to the second half of the test.

The test center isn’t really so bad. I took both CAIA levels and CMT level 1 at Prometric centers plus some professional licensing tests over the years. People taking the CPA also take it there. Don’t worry too much about it, it will be fine probably. It’s less stressful a surrounding than being in a room with hundreds of people surrounded by proctors and forced to sit at your desk after you’re done etc. The trick to this one will be practicing computer answers to the morning part of the level 3 exam, in my opinion. The other trick is to bring your own break food and drink in a backpack and put in your test center locker so you don’t have to go exploring for nourishment or waste time during your break time. My 2 cents.

As for disruption, probably no exam for me will ever be as disruptive as when I took CFA level 1. During the second half of the test there was a high school band competition on the downstairs floor. Have you ever taken a test while getting blasted with “Final Countdown” in brass and drums by semi talented teenagers? Man, that really took things up a notch. True story, won’t say where but it was outside the USA. Whatever pressure you’re facing, it will be fine. Trust your studies you got this!

for level 1 I wrote in a large convention center, almost like a warehouse/trade show setting, there were crows that somehow got in and were flying around, everyone was scared the crow would crap on their test paper

for level 2 two rows ahead of me, a very attractive lady sat beside someone I would stereotype as a frat guy. He immediately waived down a proctor and requested to change seats because he said he would be too distracted during the exam making signals at the lady… “Dude she’s too hot, you gotta move me” They moved him. True story.

Oh the good old days before CBT…

Those are great tales! Good luck!

for my level one I was in a relatively small centre. One guy was not allowed in cause he was late. you could see all the commotion at the doors and he was clearly upset (started screaming and all that)…

10 min after he was send out, a car started going around the test centre honking like crazy for like 15 min ahahah guess he wanted to make a statement ahahah

good luck guys,

I am up for it tomorrow 8am CET, cant wait to be done

dont care if passing of failing at this point

These stories are hilarious. Makes me want to give up five minutes of the AM paper if it entails watching someone lose their ■■■■ and smashing up their computer.

Good luck peeps!!
