Hi Anupriya,

I’d be appearing for the CA Finals in 20 days. I cleared the level 1 In Dec '13. Assuming that you too are a CA final student, SFM is closely related to CFA programme. SFM syllabus covers around 45-50% of the topics on level 1. Also, FRA is almost the same that you will study for accounts in final (major difference being reading about US GAAP in CFA programme). Now we are left with ethics, econ, and quants. Econ you’d have covered at CPT level and also when you did your higher secondary schooling and graduation. Quants is mostly math and stats but needs to be understood at a different level for CFA. Ethics is completely untouched at any level of CA or graduation. Hope it helped.

so anupriya here is my advice.

i am a c.a final student too…my attempt is due in may’15

i passed the cfa level 1 in dec’13(it wasnt hard because of alot of overlap between c.a final course and cfa l1)…now my cfa l2 is in june, a month from now and am really struggling because with all the c.a coaching and articleship there is not enough time for me me to study for level 2 and level 2 syllabus is vast as conpared to level 1…

so my advice would be that cfa l1 is easy but l2 would be pretty hard because the course is vast,.so please consider if u will be able to give enough time to study for l2 given articleship and c.a coaching…

other advice would be if u decide to register for cga please join c.a final sfm coaching as there is alot of overlap and it will cover like 60% of your level 1 syllabus…i recommend sanjay saraf satellite classes for c.a fimal sfm.

also indian c.a beats cfa hands down(provided u pass in ur first attempt)…so please dont cfa come in way of ur c.a if articleship and ca final coaching already stresses u alot(i made this mistake).other than that cfa is a nice course too(its not for I.B though)
