Does anyone have a great material to follow besides the CFA curriculum? I failed level 1 last December and need to pass this time around? I already studied Kaplan essential package. Anyone who has good material for level 1; especially I’m looking for question banks, practice questions etc.

Did you do the curriculum examples and pratice questions? They are the best.
CFA Institute Mock and Sample Exams are very good practice too.
In terms of additional practice questions I’d suggest FinQuiz.
I’d also recommend you get the free video lectures offered by different vendors and decide what works best for you.

What should be the ideal situation of a candidate studying for June 2014
I plan to complete the entire syllabus by the end of this month or maybe mid march. Then practice. Am I good. Problem is I don’t rememberwhat i read and it is really frustrating. 
Spend 60-70% of your study time practicing questions. May be use QBANK, EOC questions, Mocks, etc…Solve atleast 3000 questions. Learns all formalaes - EGAN offers free consolidated list. It worked for me.
About 95% people do not remember 95% of what they read; however, most people do remember the mistakes they make. In fact I can still recall some of the mistakes I made in class 8 and class 9 exams!
So I keep telling people to pratice … make mistakes… and then LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES. That is the best way to learn.

When you say practice questions, do you mean the practice questions that are at the end of each reading or the mock exam questions?

Do both. End of reading questions as do each reading. Mock exams in the final stages of your prep.

Elan is good but is slower than kaplan to get out their stuff. On the other hand, they will offer you a nice discount as you failed last december, just send them the CFA e-mail and ask them for the passeverance discount or look on their website. They don’t have Q-bank though, which is Kaplan most dominating advantage for L1, it’s next to useless on L2 though.
