CFA - Resume Query

Hello All,

Congratulations to Everyone who have cleared their respective CFA level examinations! I have a question regarding where each one of you places your CFA progress (either clearing one or all levels or your Charterholder status) in your Resume.

Currently, I am torn between two sections:

  • Education
  • Professional Accreditations

I am biased towards the second category, but I have seen many people mention their CFA progress under ‘Education’. What do you guys do? Need your inputs on this one.

Thanks!

Good Day People!

If CFA is the only professional accreditation or similar activity that you have, then stuffing it under “education” is a way to save some space on the resume, since you don’t have to put a one-item section in there.

However, if you do do this, it might be good to retitle your Education section to “Education and Profesional Development” or something like that, so that someone doesn’t think “CFA isn’t a university, this guy is overstating stuff.” SInce the section includes post-university developments, it fits more naturally.

But resumes do differ from culture to culture (some have photos, some don’t, some must be one page, some are expected to be C.V.s). So you might want to specify the cultural context where you are sending the resumes in order to be more specific.

I like this. Going to update. I had it under Education because I didn’t want it to get lost somewhere on the page.

Thanks bchad!
