I have a rant! I got the fxcking flu last week and can’t seem to shake it. It has derailed my studying for Level 1. If things don’t turn up soon, I may be a 3peat, and that is just awful!
ditchdigger2CFA, I wish you the best! rohufish, FINforLIL, kevinf12… let’s here it!

i had to get a root canal last week – its all bush’s fault i hate him
Try more natural stuff, like vitamin C from kiwi (has 2X the vitamin C of an orange) or red bell peppers (3X the vitamin C of an orange), hot tea sweetened with plenty of honey, stay indoors under covers and change cloths, have chicken soup, try some immune bust. A treated cold should be off in about 7 days, an untreated one, about a week. If it is not a virus, you should check with a doc, maybe you need antibiotics.
What’s CFA?

For the cold, Boothhouse Farms (I think that is how it is spelled) has this “C-Boost” drink that has 1200% Vitamin C in it. You can find it at Kroger or sometimes Walmart. I use that in addition to those Cold Eze (or however it is spelled drops). CFA over MBA (based on a cost benefit analysis). I have an MBA, but I’ve never gotten any indication from an interviewer that they were at all impressed. However, grad school is a great place to not only kill a couple of years, but also to study for the CFA. The primary reason to go to grad school is to utilize the recruiting center. Check out the placement rates and quality of the recruiting center before you worry about rankings. Unless you go to Harvard, Yale, or Penn it doesn’t really matter where you go (do not go to the University of Phoenix, Devry, or an offshot of a main campus such as the University of Texas - El Paso). Given this economic environment, I think it is a great place to hide out for awhile.
Do they keep notes on whether you have retaken a CFA Level 1 exam? ie: Do you have to diclose - Can they prove you retook an exam? Just wondering really
Don’t you hate it when people ask “what is the CFA?” Then stare at you expressionless as you explain.

MBA all the way - use it for getting done with CFA, FRM, PRM, CAIA, CMT, FSA, CERA, CIPM and everything else available on the planet in the two years. Also don’t forget to get the student’s scholarship for all of these. They are available on Schweser packs as well.
anupam - should i apply only to the top schools, or are the mid tier schools also worth it? how much overlap in curriculum is there if i have already done CFA 2? thank you in advance for your help in this important decision
Rohufish, The above post was a joke. So don’t take that seriously. As for your question, well it depends on your background and what you want to do later. Assuming that you do not have a great background and want to be in an extremely comfortable position later, the answer is obvious - Go only for the top-10. Nothing below top-25 will make the cut for Investment jobs. Again it depends on your network and personal circumstances. I believe that top-10 are all equally reputed (or at least can make you a good candidate for most profiles). Also, you will be easily able to pursue L3 in whichever college you are. The curriculum will depend on how you chose your credits. For example, I have a mix of all marketing, HR and Finance credits. Your Finance credits will be a breeze and you’ll be able to apply concepts to the cases. Courses like economics will be a joke after you have completed L2. Of course you will be at par in Marketing and HR courses and might find them challenging. They are usually very interesting and fun. Just one thing I’d like to add - If you can’t make it to the best in USA, you might want to look beyond eg. INSEAD, LSE etc. which will give you great international exposure. All the best.
lol - you’re a nice soul, anupam.
Chad has been seriously slacking off recently.
