CFAI ebooks and PDF files on ipad mini

Anyboy used ipad mini to read CFAI ebooks and other PDF files? How is it?

It’s rumored ipad mini 2 has retina screen and faster processor, new A7 64-bit chip, and better camera. I am thinking of buying one. My 7" nook installed with android is very awkward to read PDF files and I have to adjust the page all the time because the 7" is really not big enough for whole page of PDF. ipad mini has 7.9" which is about just right on the size for a full PDF page. I never own an apple product. Is 16GB big enough? probably the space will be eaten up quickly and I may have to consider the 32GB one.

Yes it’s good I’m hooked to it

I bought the iPad retina version and wound up returning it. I found that the screen is too brigh (even at the lowest dimmer setting) and it made me tire easily. (Full disclosure, I am really near-sighted and wear glasses). I got the Sony e-book reader instead and it makes a world of difference. The e-ink really is like paper and doesn’t tire your eyes. The only things bad about it is that the screen is not bigger, so you have to do a lot of zooming in. For serious studying (not just a first read to familiarize yourself with the material), I still paper. Nothing can beat writing things by hand, putting flags on pages, etc

I knew the unfriendly brightness and reflection issues with ipad. If I use Ipad mini it will only be me third way to study after paper books and desktop computer. I had small screen tablet and am so tired of moving and zooming to to view the entire page. I don’t understand why so many ereaders still making large quatity of 7" tablets after this many years.

Do those e-ink readers ie kindle handle pdf’s as good as ipad? Color images, links, etc?

I used a kindle for level 1. Logically it should make sense, however it would have been much easier to read directly from a physical book. Call me oldfashioned

Ipad works just fine for me. If im answering GB, i read the question on my ipad and lookup solutions in my desktop to avoid lots of going back and forth between pages…

The ipad mini retina will be released soon and I will get one, my first apple product. Now I am thinking between the 32GB and 64GB models. For the next two years the CFAI books (don’t discuss the matter of pass or not here) will be on it and my main readings. How much space each level will use it? I guess L2 and L3 probably use similar space.

I also will put in a few dozens of PDF books or articles, some music (like 30-50 albums) and a few hudred of photos. I may also put in a few simple games for young child.

I guess 32GB is sufficient. But I am not sure how much free space I can have and the unforeseen needs down the road in follwing years.

Don’t worry about your unforseen needs. Soon a new iPad will be on market and you would be upgrading to it.
