I have only looked at the CFAI 2005 sample questions at the end of readings. There were only about 26 so they didn’t take too long to do. I’m contemplating doing all of the end of reading questions, depending on how long they take. Anyone have a good estimate, either how long on avg per reading, book, or all together? Thanks…
it varies quite a bit. i mean the FSA ones, particularly SS 9 can take a very long time if you decide to work through them all. For those big ones, i tend to just do one for each topic. Like I won’t do two long questions dealing with fifo - lifo things. I’ve also found myself reading the questions and then just looking at the answers making sure i understand what they’re doing rather then go through all the calculations. so basically i know i could do it if i had to, but i don’t think its the best way to spend my time. - or maybe i’m just lazy : )
Thanks jut111. I know there are many variables in play, but how long do you think it would take to go through a considerable amount of questions from each of the 5 books? I’m looking for the total time…
sorry, can’t give you a good estimate there. I did most of my question work after reading each reading, so it’s spread out over many months.
Okay jut, I’ll just have to start going through them and see for myself, unless someone else chimes in. Thanks anyway bud.
The first time I took the test (and failed, band 9), I took the strategy of doing most of the end of chapter questions and just one of each if there were multiple long ones, and reading through and understanding the others. This time, I’m going through and making sure I do them all without looking at the answers, then checking them. This forces me to try to recall the information without giving myself the easy way out. I seem to be retaining more information this way. As jut said, it varies quite a bit. There are sections where I did the questions in a few minutes, and others (a few, if I recall correctly) where I would spend more than an hour doing the problems. Then checking my answers could take awhile if I had done a problem incorrectly, so I would “learn” how to do it the correct way, then reworked it. I would estimate at least 12 hours to do all questions, but that’s a complete estimate, since I also did the questions immediately after each reading.
Thanks forumreader. I was looking for an estimate. I honestly didn’t know if I was looking at 50 hrs or somewhere near what you guessed, so that helps. Thanks.
