Charter Number

To the charterholders on this forum, is your charter number the same as your CFA candidate number? Or does CFAI assign you a unique charter number once you earn the charter?

^Just curious why you would care?

I think the Charter number comes from a separate sequence, but I do know that your candidate number becomes your member number when you finish the process.

i think charter numbers correspond to the order in which they are issued. i say this b/c those folks that received their’s before me have lower charter numbers and those that received it after have higher numbers.

My upgrade application has been accepted by CFAI but I’m still waiting (over a month now) for the local society. Starting a new job in a couple weeks and HR wants to know my charter number (yes, my future boss knows I’m still waiting for application to be officially accepted). Guess I’ll have to tell them I don’t have the number yet. Thanks for the responses.

They are not the same. Just checked
