Congratulations!!! I heard you passed the Series 7

Things heard at my desk yesterday.

I think I’d just laugh. Confusing the CFA with the series 7 is like saying calculus and addition are the same thing.

Every year I’ve passed the different levels, my sister-in-law always sends an email saying “congrats on passing the CPA exam!”.

I don’t have the heart to correct her.

haha…this is epic…

People think now that I passed, I am a Certified Financial Adviser. Makes me cringe every time I hear it.

haha

LOL oh boy…

On a different note, after telling my boss that I didn’t pass this year he told me that if he were me…“I would take a break and then next May leading up to the test start reviewing 2 nights a week.” After his great advice I tried to run through the window in his office and plummet to my death, but fell flat on the floor for the second epic fail this week. Clearly he gets it.

After I told my bosses that I passed, they said a quick congratulations and then went on to say that they hoped I could focus on getting the CFP by next November…My god!

I also have the awkwardness of being “Yes, well passed the level 3 exam, but I don’t have the experience yet so I can’t use the letters yet. So thanks.” More often I am just “thanks”. Regardless of what they congratulate me on.

I got my CFP and 7 actual right before I started the CFA experience. It is just no comparison. I think the CFP you need like 150-200 hours over 9 months. It is a small difference but really it is a huge difference between trying to squeeze 10 hours a week and 15 hours. Those last 5 hours are hard.
