Is this Corporate Finance Qualification worth anything? It doesn’t seem like too many people have it. I saw an advertisment in the Financial Times for it. Never heard of it. Prob a waste of money.
There are lots of qualifications and this one might teach you something but unless it is recognized by most people/companies then it is a waste. Many programs are probably good but the value of the credential is in the strenght of the marketing department of the org offering the credential. Strong marketing focus increases the value of the designation/credential irrespective of the content.
Ive heard of this one. Its probably only recognised somewhat, not even that much in the UK. But will increase in value Im sure. For me and many others it would have to have some sort of respect since it is awarded and run by the Institute of Chartered accountants in the UK. Obviously quite a good well respected organisation. So maybe someday it will pickup, and become quite significant, but for now, its probably not going to help much outside of UK, if their even. Once that get it marketed correctly and start getting the big investment banks and other companies getting their professionals doing it, it will get successful, thats if that ever happens.
It is important if you are trying to get a job with qualification to have it recognized. The content of the program is almost less important than the rep of the designation and the marketing department of the orgainization offerring it. If you think you will save a bit of money it will only be in the short term. MBA and CFA have good reputations although the MBA less so now that anybody can get one. For example if you say you have an MBA many knowledgeable people will first ask where is it from. For example one org offers this designation Chartered Professional Strategic Wealth. I mean it almost doesn’t matter what it teaches if nobody has heard of it. From somebody who has too many little certificate just stick with the main ones, spend the time and the money.
