Could you please review my resume

Hi, So finally am starting my job search this week. I need some help reviewing my resume. If you have a few minutes to spare, kindly go to http://www.razume.com/documents/16418 and leave some comments. I will be applying through different job sites, job links of individual corporations and see if I get any hits. I also plan to start networking but obviously since I am not in the industry I am clueless at this point. Thanks in advance for taking the time to review my resume and helping out with advice. http://www.razume.com/documents/16418

Haha really? Something smells like a Snooki Ok in all seriousness, your cv needs quite a bit of work. You cleared all 3 levels and you don’t even know to list it correctly on your resume. Only Juniors in ugrad list objectives on their resumes. There’s no content in your work experience. Your focus should be there whether or not it is relevant to the job you seek. I would suggest using a professional review service. A lot of people on this forum have used a service provided by a frequent member named Numi. I suggest that you talk to him.

OP, definitely drop the objective, put work exp first, then education, then the miscellaneous. As they said above, talk to Numi. I mainly just wanted to comment that your resume looked a lot like mine a couple years ago. Did the whole CMA thing (top 10 in the year I took the exams as well) and then the CFA tests with no work exp. One thing that worked for me was an MS in Finance. One year, full time, realign yourself with what you want to do since it appears you’re attempting to switch industries.

  • and some tanning oil/spray

i’m totally down with snooki. Seems like he is a good test taker. So financial statement analysis is a core competency? explain. List your top 3 investment ideas. Yes, resume needs work. This is how my resume looked when i graduated. Since then, its grown in the proportion of Jwoww.

Drop the objective as stated Advanced data analysis tells the reader NOTHING, what sort of analysis and for what purpose Definitely reminds me of an undergrad resume

Joke apart - you been working in the IT industry since 2002 so basically has 8 years of development exp but resume looks like who just finished college and applying for internship at Edward Jones. I would also suggest to hire a professiona resume service or go to the local library and check the books on resume building. Also do you know what financial analyst does. FA basically keep tab on invoice, account payable and receivable etc etc. It is basically a accounting job. I mean you meant investment analyst, research/equity analyst position. You are a good example of people who think getting charters, certificates, degree etc will lead to a HF/finance job but you lack smartness my firiend. Don’t want to be harsh but I have never seen such a basic resume of someone who has a master’s degree and been working for 8 years in professional field. Good luck

The OP should spend the extra money and get a paid professional resume service to clean up the mess that it is right now.

letter collecting will not get you a job in finance. stick to IT, youre not going anywhere

Now I also need an assistant who can check my spelling errors:)

Hi, Thanks for the comments. A bit harsh in places but I did need a reality check !! I added objective because a lot of career websites mentioned that section is essential if someone is looking to switch careers (as I am) I added work experience below education because my work experience is not relevant (even though its 8 years its not relevant to a investment analyst or a financial analyst position) I definitely will try to find a good professional resume service and try that out. Need to do some more research on reading reviews of prof. resume services. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

if he’s lucky then he might also run for CEO position at fortune 500

>>I added objective because a lot of career websites mentioned that section is essential if someone is looking to switch careers (as I am) People who work in the personnel industry always say this. People who work in actual industry as hiring managers always say not to do this.
