CRPC

Hi all,

I know the CRPC is a joke compared to the other exams folks are taking on this site. With that said, I’m having trouble finding anything on the difficulty of the CRPC exam that’s recent.

Does anyone have any recent experience with the exam, or know someone who does?

I am a Series 7 and 66 holder. I did fine on both (80+).

Thanks in advance!

I took the CRPC. I took it after my 7/66, but before any other education in finance. (MBA, CPA, CFA, PFS, etc.)

I studied all day on Friday. I took the test on Saturday and passed.

edit - This was in 2006 or 2007. I took the job because I was applying for a Financial Advisor position at USAA, and they said that CRPC was “preferred”. I didn’t get the job, and never paid to renew the certificate.

Thanks, greenman, for your response. (Is that referencing Always Sunny?)

Your post from 2013-ish was the only one I could find.

If anyone has more recent experience with the exam, I’d love to hear it.

We don’t take kindly to communism around here.

But democratic socialists seem pretty okay.

Who is John Galt?

If banking/finance wasn’t so fraudulent/criminal maybe there would be less people lining up to back the likes of the Elizabeth Warrens’ of the world, or the Ocasio-Cortezs’. It’s really not hard to observe and explain why these ideologies are gaining popularity with the younger generation. And the answer is not because “they’re weak/soft”.

^Socialism is always popular with the young.

Haven’t you ever heard the saying, “If you’re not a liberal when you’re young, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative when you’re old, you have no brain.”? (Or something like it.)

But I digress… back to the CRPC: It’s worthless. Don’t take it. Unless it’s “preferred” for the job that you want. Then take it. And never pay for it, because it’s not worth paying for.

My firm is reimbursing me for it once I pass. I will ultimately go CFP or CIMA, depending on my team’s needs.

Thanks for the feedback (except Charliework, unbearable troll despite the Sunny reference).

Some letters after your name never hurts while prospecting… especially when it costs $800 (reimbursed).
