This thread made me happy. Congrats CvM! Get after it!
T-1 Week till I’m given the bum’s rush from my role over the wall. Rumors are whipping around within the walls now about the likely relocation of corporate functions. A coupla guys high fived me and said nice work bouncing out. Many also add to keep an eye out for them given they do not wish to move to Podunk Fckin Town in Flyover State USA.
I’ve been rolling in hungover each day since Wednesday this week. I think next week I can pull a consistent 5 day bender.
Why they didn’t just forcibly escort me out of the building upon my resignation is beyond me.
They wanted ‘cheap’ labor to help with the transition. They could give a rip that the person they hired, me, would likely be out of a job inside of a year due to said merger.
This episode should serve as a good ’ lesson’ for you and likes who may be thinking or are at the verge of job hopping…
First, any offer/job even if seems good at first sight may need a little more ‘insider’ information for true evaluation of the viability and ‘risk’ involved in accepting the offer. In fact more good it seems more exploration / investigation should be done before taking the jump. No use falling in the trap and prove to be just a ‘cheap labor’!
Second, all may not be as lucky as you are this time. Both serving in a job being ‘unhappy’ or finding oneself redundant sooner than later hurts both career and ‘love for life’ more so if one has a family to take care of. In career terms once maladjusted turns out to be maladjusted for ever! So, if possible one should always have a ‘second plan’ (however bad it may seem) when itching for a ‘change’.
^ Mad respect. Keep on preaching the truth around AF for these young pups.
Who needs the Oracle of Delphi when you have CFAvsMBA?
Congrats CVM - repping the AF community well.
Just got an invite from my new firm about a NYC Booze Cruise tomorrow after work. This is my kind of spot. Giddy Up!
Drinks provided and a rib dinner will be catored in. The invite also mentioned dress code is chic casual, shorts allowed (provided they are appropriate length). I have a feeling some of these marketing bunnies push the envelope. It’s a good day.
Update. That joint I was at is now an abandan office building. All corporate operations moved to the acquierer’s home state.
Looks like I made the right move. The guy who hired me, who up until the day I left said I’d be fine, was laid off about a month ago.
Well played.
