I’ve registered to write CFA level 1 in June 2010… is there any way to defer this to December 2010? If so, what are the steps and what penalties (if any) would occur? Thanks!
I don’t think its possible to defer it. The penalty would be be the exam fee (around 500$). Check the cfai website for deferrals.

I don’t believe you can defer the exam just for the sake of doing so. Medical emergencies, deaths, etc… and they’ll hear your story.
What if I have a full time job and a SOA exam on asset valuations (which include stochastic modelling) which is hell hard?
Then the CFA should be a piece of cake for you

no, wont be able to defer with that excuse.
student, do your homework. http://cfainstitute.org/cfaprog/faq/faqs_candidates.html I am not able to sit for the exam. Can I request a refund or transfer my registration to the next exam? No. Once you submit your application for the CFA Program, all of our policies immediately go into effect. As our refund policy states, your CFA Program enrollment fee and exam registration fee are non-refundable and non-transferable (i.e. another candidate cannot use your fees and you cannot apply your fees to another exam offering). Please note that your CFA Program enrollment fee will remain valid throughout your candidacy.
LOL!! Should have thought of that before you registered buddy student1 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What if I have a full time job and a SOA exam on > asset valuations (which include stochastic > modelling) which is hell hard?
I’m in the Army and had to go away for a little while. I emailed them as soon as I found out when I was going and that I wasn’t going to be back in June. Here’s my response: Mr. Lauritzen, Thank you for contacting us. In light of your circumstances, I’ve authorized a cancellation of your June 2009 exam and a deferral of your fees to the December 2009 exam. A representative will follow up with you within 10 days to provide further instructions on registering for the December 2009 exam. If your deferral is not finalized at the time exam tickets are available, you will have access to an on-line ticket for the exam. Since your deferral request is approved, you are not eligible to attend the exam. If you do attend the exam, your exam results will be voided. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Warm Regards, Kara Huffman Client Services So, it is possible. Just have a good enough reason.
But you should prove it of course.

Is there anyway to get work experience in the Army approved for the charter?
