Is there a way I can know a competitive landscape of firms in one category, tech firms, such as Google, Amazon, Yahoo, automobile industry etc. so that I can apply the material I am learning? I am curious to see the market share, revenue sources and avenues of growth based on financial / operational risk. I believe one way is to write a note to the CEO, something I don’t want to do. I am just curious. If there is any book, or an online resource, please let me know so that I can borrow something from the library.
You can get the rsources from company’s website , Yahoo finance , Bloomberg , Moneycontrol , Google finance , Reuters etc. On these websites , You can get all the financial statements like P&L , Balance sheet , Cash flow statements etc. which are necessary to do particular analysis . You will also get the information on market price, growth rates , Beta , Ratios such as D/E ratio , Asset turnover ratio , Liquidity ratios , Profitability ratios etc.
You will also have the information in the footnotes regarding the Contingent liabilities , auditors report and Management discussion and analysis etc.
