as an equity hedgefund manager, what kind of bank sales would he prefer to be covered by? someone who is a global-macro kinda guy or a country/sector-specific kinda guy?

I guess it depends on the hedge fund’s strategy. Equity is a pretty broad category there.

Thanks for taking a look guys. I am thinking of both equity long/short and long only hedge funds, see whether the managers of the two types of fund have different preferences for a general sales or a country/sector expert.

It’s going to depend on the PM.
Global Macro is a rarefied space with a small audience. Unless the strategy is very clearly a macro type strategy (which would usually imply that there are more asset classes than equity), then a country/sector specialist probably will get the fund a wider audience.
