Economics and econometrics level

Hi there, What is the level of the economics and econometrics course in the CFA? is it undergraduate or postgraduate level? and what’s the main differences between what you could learn in a BSC or MSC in economics?

Thanks guys,

Primarily (maybe exclusively) undergraduate.

Its totally trivial undergrad stuff. I am an econometrician and Economics PhD-student (and run small prep-classes for the CFA). Please feel free tp PM me in case you are facing any trouble w/the material.

Econometrician without the degree?

Well, you don’t need a document that says “This guy is an Econometrician” to work as one.

I do “statistical analysis of financial data” (so it says on my business card) for a living, that is TS up and down. I think this falls under “Econometrician”.

Absolutely, I agree. It’s just that most people do have a formal training, so I was curious how that worked.

Would you consider yourself a statistician as well, since econometrics is the application of statistical methods to field-specific data? Do you primarly do time-series analysis?

Again, I’m genuinely wondering (though, it may be hard to tell over the internet).
