Endowment Salary

Anyone have an idea what the pay range might be for an invesment manager, analyst, or CIO at a university endowment? I know it varies (Harvards made something like 6.5M one year), but lets say something between 500M-1.5B in assets…or any insight into the career is welcome, thanks.

my girlfriend told me my endowment gave her very high returns

yeah, she told me the same thing…

^^ YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I do some work for a $1,xxx,xxx endowment and get paid $0. So, for an endowment 500x bigger, I’d say 500 x $0 = $0. Umm, wait a second. That can’t be right.

Funny how my girlfriend talks to you about how good I am… you must be a really good listener!

yyyyeeaaa…but its hard to hear with her tongue in my ear…

Makes some sense i guess, i can see how the same kind of guy who is a good listener also likes a tounge in the rear, i mean ear

Has Caltech finally filled that position? http://treasurer.caltech.edu/staff.htm

University of Michigan data (all public info): 4 analysts, average comp: $48,375 (my guess on experience: <5 years) 3 managers, average comp: $87,667 (my guess on experience: 5-20 years) 2 directors, average comp: $224,250 (my guess on experience: 20+ years) 1 CIO, $426,500 (my guess on experience: 20+ years) Those numbers have gone up pretty significantly in the last two years, too. Expect low pay at a public university since it has to be publicly disclosed. And this is a $5+ billion endowment.

goblue-thanks, thats what I was lookin for. geny-yep, didn’t you wonder why her breath always smells??? I was wondering…when you kiss her…how does my d*ck taste? Thank you, I am finished.

I work @ a univeristy and i make about 25 % more than the above Analysts comp. But we look after the pensions & endowment roughly 1.2 billion . All my experience prior to this was BO <5 years .

Rudeboi, public university or private?

I think that Swensens pay check is only a million or two, and that’s for Yale’s endowment. I would think that would be the high mark for compensation. Just out of curiosity Rudeboi, how’d you get into the university work?

University of Maryland – Senior Analyst/Junior Portfolio Manager $400K all in.

umd is a pretty small shop, with very few “junior people” - even so, that # sounds high to me. Endowments are not known for paying very well (maybe excluding Harvard). It’s really all about the experience and the connections.

That is an actual number, not a guess.

you are showing your cards farley…

Impressive cards they are, though. I guess endowment work is not to be scoffed at after all.

I dont expect my pay to increase by a large amount but I do get a bonus of upto 15% . The money is not great but its not bad either , the experience on the other hand will be great since it is a very small shop ( 3 people ) and i get to do a lot of stuff .
