I have my first interview coming up soon for an equity research associate position in the healthcare sector. Any ER folks on here that can give me updated info in the healthcare space? Stock picks, recent developments… I’m doing research on my own but any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
which area in healthcare
Probably in the area of pharmaceuticals or medical technologies. To be honest, I don’t have a strong background in these areas but I did work for two medical device companies very briefly, one as an intern and another as an engineer in R&D.
What will be the affect of the health care reform be on these areas? Due to a large number of newly insured, I believe we should see a lot more people who will be able to get perscriptions that weren’t able to in the past. This should be a plus for pharmaceuticals. Medtech companies may also see an increase in demand as more ppl will be insured that will require medical equipment for examinations and surguries.
Please feel free to add anything. What are the pros and cons? What are some good stocks to pitch? Thanks!
First of all, All The Very Best !!
And secondly I suggest you that go for a thorough study of pharmaceuticals that to with the current updates in pharmaceuticals as if we can’t predict that what question would be bombarded to you, Hope you do well, and yes if possible try out Google search it would definitely help you a lot.
^ Incredible tips. Nice.
read up on some old healthcare ER reports. Also, be sure to insist that you do not believe in efficient markets during all stages of interview.
^ LOL. That reminds me of one situation where I was interviewing a potential candidate:
Me: I noticed you went to U of Chicago. You guys learned about the efficient market theory right?
Candidate: Yeah.
Me: So is that something you believe in? Candidate: Yeah, I think one of my professors proved it in the 1970’s.
Me: OK, so if you believe in EMH, why do you want to work at a hedge fund then?
Candidate: -silence-
LOL
