I have a phone interview scheduled with a senior analyst/director of a sell-side bulge bracket bank and i really would like to grab this chance.
My accounting has been my downfall for my past interviews, but any advice on what to know exactly? I prepare for several items, but some completely different technical comes up during interviews. Anyone have an exhaustive list of questions to be ready for? I want to cover all bases this time.
For the pitch, is it bad to pitch a company he covers? I have industry experience so I have a pitch of a certain company within that industry, but I ended up getting this interview to cover that same industry.
Lastly, what are some good questions to ask a senior analyst at the end of the interview?
I am going to be preparing hard over the next few days so any preparation tips would be greatly appreciated.
Ther’s no real exhaustive list, the CFA material is extensive as is.
general rule of thumb… do NOT pitch a company he covers. you’re setting yourself up for a beat down. unless you really it inside-out, then you may actually pull it off
if you can sell a story of a company. i think ur good to go. the senior analyst asked me this and i fumbled cuz well i never really did any in depth work. luckily the md liked me. so bottom line juss be likable. forget the technicals. its all about thought process that will make you likable. if you dont know the answer. jus say u dont know outright, but show how u would solve it through fluff bs
