Ethics GPA Rounding Question - Cant remember answer...

So I saw this question somewhere recently and for the life of me I can’t remember where so just thought someone here might be able to help me remember the correct answer.

The question went something like:

A CFA candidate has a 3.49 GPA which they round up to a 3.5 GPA on their resume. Is this a violation of the professional standard covering misrepresentation or responsibilities as a CFAI member or candidate or not a violation at all?

Thanks

Never have seen this nor do I know the answer nor would I worry about it. For the record I doubt it’s a violation

Violation

I’d go with violation. Somewhere in the ball-park of misrepresentation, or integrity.

Their actual GPA was 3.495784329364947…(I guess it has to be repeating or terminating) Is the number of significant digits really an ethical issue? I’d say that a candidate could report that as 3.496 without an ethical issue. Is there somehow only an ethical issue in rounding the second decimal point up? No, it’s not a violation and it’s not even an ethical issue.

Exactly.
