I had two phone interviews for this job with the last one being about three weeks ago. Maybe I misunderstood the person to whom I was speaking but he said something like I’d hear in a week. So far nothing. I called the HR person who orginally contacted me and left her a voicemail. I assume I didn’t get the job but common courtesy would suggest sending me a form letter or something. Ugh. So frustrated.
Happens all the time. HR will say they will contact you no matter what and don’t. A few times I’ve called back to see what the current status was and they say “oh, the job has been filled”. It’s probably why I have a general disdain for HR.
I interviewed 3+ years ago. Followed up a week later (via email), and they said they haven’t made a decision but I’d hear back shortly. I followed up another week after that, and never heard back. And this was for a transfer within my own company.
Sadly, this seems to be pretty common. They may still be interested and delayed, but many companies just never get back to you. I’ve even had companies not call me back even after they flew me into another city (at their cost) for an in person interview. Good luck!
Agreed. I’ve been on a few where I’m sure the HR chick was so disinterested in her job and my wanting to apply for a PM gig that she simply forgot to place me in the “A” pile for the CIO to review. But of all the firms, the girl at Franklin Templeton Investments had to be the worst. She was this totally disinterested and clearly under slept clompety cow of a gal. I mean for god’s sake woman, get some sleep, do some resistance training and have a coffee before you come in to work!!! Willy
^^^that’s great, so true!!! but agreed I haven’t heard back either on some interviews and it is so frustrating. I’d even take an email…how easy and quick is that!
I mean I know that people are busy. I’ve had to interview analysts and stuff and I always got back to people. Takes 2 minutes. Willy
I once was offered a job 6 months after I interviewed. I made a few follow-up calls a week after the interview, but never heard back… Then one day 4 months into a new job, an offer. Wierd.
happens all the time…so true…even weird i got this job interview…the HR girl flew from another city to my city to interview me…and next day of the interview I emailed a formal thank you note…she said she has few more candidates to interview for the same position so it will take time… after three weeks i contacted her and guess what she said…be ready for this…(drumrolls, plz)…she said ‘we are fine with our current team, we will contact you when we need’ i mean she wasted time of the company and even the candidates…i personally think that is even weirder than HR saying ‘oh poz has been filled’
HR is useless, i dealt with em ALL summer. most are young girls who could care less. they are 9 to 5pm type people, so naturally they have no desire to do their best. forget about and try to get to decision makers. HR people are vessels and often underpaid.
There’s even a whole subject HRM studied extensively in business schools…total brainwash. Willy, which industry do you work in ? IB/AM ?
Still really frustrated. I guess I’m on “hold” with one job and haven’t heard back after a phone interview for a different job. I even sent the interviewer a follow up email asking if they would please let me know but nothing. I give up. Is it any coincidence that neither of these two positions are at for-profit companies?
