Exam Scheduling

Just get the email from CAIA regarding the scheduling of the exam dates in Sept between 8-23. So everyone can choose his/her own dates as long as it falls into the assigned time period??

Correct and correct, assuming that time hasn’t already been over-booked. I got that email yesterday to…still debating if I should give myself the extra time by booking near the end or force myself to buckle down after L1 by booking at the beginning…hmmmm

So won’t they worry that those candidates who take the test at a later date may get “additional info”

cfacowtown, Btw have you started your reading yet? I just got my materials from Uppermark today. I know it really depends on one’s own education and work background, but I feel 3 months time (on a part-time basis) should sufficiently prepare you for the level 1 exam.

I signed up for the level 2 exam today - went with the final day of the exam window. Can’t hurt to get an extra two weeks of studying in.

No I haven’t started reading yet, but i’ve had the curriculum books + schweser for almost 3 weeks now. I am cramming hardcore for CFA-L1, so CAIA will start 3rd week of June, no excuses. Glad to know there are others taking the exam, seems like everyone opted for FRM-FULL this year instead.

Yes, Please schedule your appointment asap since they can be overbooked very quickly. The exam hall, from my experience, is very small and can easily be over-booked. From my experience, the last few days are very popular and i had to take the exam 4 days before the end of the given period because everybody esle has booked. Fortunately, i was able to passed with 70% or above in every single topic. Roll on the FULL FRM this november and CAIA lvl 2 next March. Good luck to you all taking the CAIA lvl 1 exam. I am happy to give advices.

Just wondering, can you make any changes to the date or location after you have made the initial selection online?

I was hoping to delay my decision ok booking till june, but it sounds like I should get on it pronto. I’ll have a quick look over the material and book accordingly. Quant is 30%, that could be good or bad, we will see.

In response to Peteus325, i have re-checked my email from Pearson (the test centre) and it states this: “If you wish to cancel or reschedule your exam, you must contact Pearson VUE one business day prior to your exam appointment. If you cancel or reschedule an exam less than 24 hours in advance, or fail to appear for the exam, you willforfeit the exam registration fee. NOTE: Appointments can only be rescheduled to take place within the SAME (i.e.current) two-week examination period. Appointments cannot be rescheduled or postponed to any future examinationperiod.” In response to cfacowtown, (Quant 30%), my memory of the exam was that there were not many calculation questions and the calculation parts are, in my opinion, quite easy. Please note that i took my exam in Hong Kong and the exam room would probably be much smaller than where you would be taking it. Hence, in my case, quite easy to be fully booked. However, there are probably fewer people taking it too; CAIA is almost unheard of in Hong Kong.

Thanks

I’m actually curious to see historical enrollment numbers. I think a lot of people will put of CAIA in favor of FRM Full. CFP also has its last year of full exam in June 2010. I wonder if this will have any affect on enrollment?

i have enrolled for the full FRM exam in favour of the CAIA level 2 simply because of the change in the exam structure. It has certainly affected me. I will take the CAIA level 2 exam in March 2010

I still haven’t set my exam date. I am waiting to here about CFA-L1 before I decide. I want to bookit in the first week of September, but I also am planning to knock off CIPM-L1. Tough sell if I have to redo L1, which I highly doubt I will have to. I will also be taking CAIA-L2 in March, we can rip it up on the L2 forums then tfyim.

>I still haven’t set my exam date … That makes two of us

When were you thinking?
