I thought you had to have a position to win an argument. Maybe I am just used to talking to attorneys. Or misguided about the interest people have in their own rights. Either way I concede to the non argument.
You missed my point. I don’t philosophically disagree with much of anything you’ve said. You just say it in a manner that turns people off.
Well thats sad to hear. I was hoping people would want to be more informed of actions that affect their future freedoms. I know this stuff concerns me. Oh well, perhaps we all will experience something related to what I have said that will be detrimental to their future or childrens future then they will be concerned. This seems to be a theme here that its no big deal until it happens to you. Thanks for the observation though.

I just realized you thought I was a libertarian. Not at all, I dont think I need to be labled I think that personal freedom is both a moral and economic interest. I think Ayn Rand Paul is a moron for that matter and that government does have a productive purpose but can definitely be misguided when ruling an uninformed populace which is very true of this country. Seriously, thanks for the advice though, I didnt know thats how I come off. I would also bet I am older than you, though not happy about it. Maybe I should back up my statements with “this is how it was explained to me by law enforcement”.

As for any biases, I’m probably one of the most tolerant individuals you’ll never have the pleasure to meet. That doesn’t mean we should gloss over very real issues. The black community is faced with some seriously difficult challenges and so far they’ve done very little to address them. It’s extremely sad to see things like looting during protests or Hurricane Katrina (not talking about food and water. I’m talking about the guys that were stealing plasma TVs and rowing away down the street). In America, that’s pretty much an exclusively black phenomenom. When white people see that happening on TV it hurts the legitimate, peaceful protests beind held by thoughtful black community leaders, and it deepens the divide between cultures. Me pointing that out isn’t coming from a racist place. It’s more out of frustration.
Same goes for you Indian fellas. I don’t have anything against you guys as a race. I do think you have a serious rape problem and time and time again your (among others) responses here on AF only serve to reinforce the negative sterotype of a rapey Indian dude.
Open and honest dialogue is a scarce commodity in our PC world.

@Swaption - You claim to not be libertarian, then you go on extoll the virtues of free choice, both socially and economically, and you definitely seem to detest the government overrreach. Call it what you want, but I call that libertarian.
Anyone that truly values individual liberty and freedom falls somewhere on the libertarian spectrum even if you’re opposed to labels. I wish you’d embrace it. We need more people to stand up and vote in local, state, and federal elections that think along these lines to protect liberty for all.

So then you know lots of libertarians that vote democrat? I certainly dont. I think the libertarian platform today does not represent the intentions of true liberalism so I guess it depends on how you define libertarian. The liberalism I was taught focused on protecting the rights of individuals whike it seems the libertarian movement today is focused on smaller goverment though not as concerned with laws that infringe on personal freedoms.
Does anyone else think the whole stolen cigar thing seems weak? I never saw any reports that they found the stolen cigars on them (if they did, we would have heard about it). He was probably a suspect in the sense that he was black and walking down the street.
Moreover, who shoots someone over $50 of stolen cigars?
