I think he is in a pickle with getting the nomination because he will have to tow the party line. One thing that seriously concerned me about him early on was in 2010 there was a woman protesting at one of his campaign stops nonviolently and one of his staff members knocked her to the ground and literally stepped on her head and held his foot there. I dont think he even got in trouble I could be wrong. But surrounding yourself with this type of person who resorts to violence so quickly in an act of aggression makes me question his judgment in character. I could be wrong but his sticks in my head at its ruthlessness. I would be interested to see him on a third party ticket so he could be straightforward with his beliefs.

Well, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Jefferson Middle School. In the 10th grade, I was top of my auto shop class. Now after a series of setbacks, I live in my mom’s basement yelling at her to bring me some juice while I play XBox. So I can relate to all the libertarian stuff because my mom is constantly on my back and I’m always like “Leave me alone, mom!” AmIRight?

The militarization of US police is truly frightening.

Thst said, I work with police in some volunteer work I do and 90% are great people, with a few real interesting folks thrown in. We do have to remember these guys deal with some real scum everyday. .

I generally agree with you…but recently changed my mind remembering that these folks are unionized people that refuse to give an inch. In my neck of the woods, the government decided to change their retirement benefits to where the police officer would have to contribute 50/50 with the state instead of the state paying up to 85% of the officer’s retirement. They have been protesting ever since: wearing jeans while on duty, plastering their police cars with stickers denouncing the new bill, starting fires in front of city hall, repeating ridiculous slogans to the media on how they are being victimized and being robbed from a respectable retirement, calling in sick en masse on the same day, etc.

When a person cannot admit that smart politicians on the other side of the aisle exist when they clearly exhibit the traits of an intelligent person, that is my litmus test for knowing there is no point in discussing politics with that person. Works especially well on the internet as well.

As for any biases, I’m probably one of the most tolerant individuals you’ll never have the pleasure to meet. That doesn’t mean we should gloss over very real issues. The black community is faced with some seriously difficult challenges and so far they’ve done very little to address them. It’s extremely sad to see things like looting during protests or Hurricane Katrina (not talking about food and water. I’m talking about the guys that were stealing plasma TVs and rowing away down the street). In America, that’s pretty much an exclusively black phenomenom. When white people see that happening on TV it hurts the legitimate, peaceful protests beind held by thoughtful black community leaders, and it deepens the divide between cultures. Me pointing that out isn’t coming from a racist place. It’s more out of frustration.

Right now beyond the media sensationalism that smacks of cultural xenophobia the numbers even when accounted for under-reporting and difference in definition when brought in line for population show that the country is not a statisitcal outlier even for gang rape. A global problem? Absolutely.

I also find it difficult to belive that an authentic tolerant person who pats himself on the back for being so would refer to people as ‘rapey’ and indeed quite strange given American girls seem to be getting assaulted in institutes of higher education as some sort of national pastime.
