GMofDen, When this thing is over would you be open to talking off AF about exactly what you do? I think I remember that you are a CFP also, which is my situation too. I am always interested in talking with others that are in the same boat.
^ you’re almost there.
mwvt9 are you in Canada?
No. US.
i’m just going to make myself go through all the multiple choice and vignette questions in the texts before i do anything else. i’ve gone through all of quant, fsa, some of equity and corp finance. haven’t touched derivatives or fixed income yet. i read the secret sauce anytime i can. i read over my flashcards. not really a good plan. i think the practice testing begins this thursday or friday.i’m playing golf on thursday, but might cancel it after my freakout session today. i think i also may focus on the vignette questions in the qbank before the others. didn’t know you could do that until today. mwvt, stop it. you are doing really well. you are going to pass this thing. i’m not just saying that. i really think yoiu will do well. you think you’re behind? look at this cfaelite dude. unbelievable. i don’t know how to react to posts like that. at least he has less time commited than me.
mwvt- Of course. I’d be more than happy to talk offline. You got my email that I sent a few days ago on that emerging market. We can touch base through there. My offer is still out there, (to you only and not a thread) with some of my own notes for areas that you may not have gone through if that helps catch you up. Want to make sure that the good L2 AF’rs make it to L3.
Yeah maybe I will hit you up on some notes. I have heard that SS 13 is pretty bad and I know swaps are going to kill me based on posts I have seen. I will shoot you an email when I get there. Again, I really appreciate the offer. Hopefully I can help you in the areas I am strong in to pay you back.
Always good to hear an update cfasf1. Don’t cancel your golf. I’m going to try and catch up to you on review but you’ve quite a bit ahead of me. I think my first tests are this weekend. I’d feel like a dumbass after putting this much time and effort (already) into L2 and someone out there like cfa elite passed with 120 hours of study… I know it can happen but man oh man, I got to pass this thing. good luck guys. Not to highjack the post but if any of you have any quick suggestions on how to get a three month old to sleep through the night. Any good tips send my way because I am sick and tired of waking up every 1.5 hours to feed a baby.

I am dealing with an 8 week old that must think that sleep is pure evil because he stays away from it at all costs. I have NO answers on that front.

I would play the golf. I did once last week and I hadn’t felt better afterwards. In my case I don’t realize how stressed I am getting until I do something like that and feel better.
man, i just spent the last 20 minutes trying to get my 10 month old to take a nap. not happening. sorry gm, it doesn’t get easier! i don’ think i can have number 2 until i pass this thing or it kills me. i really don’t know how my wife does it when i’m at work.
hahahaha. It was worth a try. With as many bright people on the forum , thought it’d be worth a shot for some magical advice. Does it get tougher studying for the cfa exams the older they get? You had L1 and L2 with a young one.
actually. she is now 11 months! time flies. she was born 10 days before level 1 last june. may 23rd. I was reading the secret sauce on a cot in the hospital next to my wife last year… i think it’s harder once they get older. the little one needs more attention now that she is trying to walk and falling on her face every now and then. i really couldn’t pull it off without my wife doing all the heavy lifting. another reason i need to pass on first try!! you seem like you have it down though GM. i just can’t imagine doing with 2 kids.
Harder for sure.
Holy crap. Good for you passing L1 with all that on your plate. Nah man I only have one kid. I would self destruct with 2 kids trying to study. I was hoping for twins at one point but one is tough enough right now. Once I land that dream job after getting the cfa of $950k per year with a 10am-2pm schedule I’ll think about #2. ahhahaaa. Mwvt9 you have 2 kids?
Yeah two boys. A two year old and an eight week old. I can tell you it gets much harder with the second! If you do the math that means I only had one at level I. Finding time to study for level II has been difficult, especially being behind the eight ball with time to begin with. Of course they are a major reason I am busting my hump.
Even more props your way. Damn, 2 of them that young. Toughhh. 40 more days and it’ll be over with and on to L3!
Amen brother.
I think L2 is not any harder then L1, but those Vignettes are gonna suck. I always kick and scream when I have to read that one pager ahead of the problem, but sometimes those questions end up just like the single ones. Although some of those problems are really tough, so lets hope they wont throw those at us… Question… I have done quite a few problems from qbank… now I have a choice to finish as many of remaining as possible, and then get to book 6 or do you think I should work on end of chapter problems in each book and then do book 6… from your experience which questions are more solid… or does it matter?
