Garage Gym - keeping mats clean when parking car

I need to move my gym setup from the spare bedroom to the garage. i have rubber mats and all the equipment i need but i want to hear some ideas around keeping the mats clean when i park my car (especially in the winter). I’ve been looking through different garage flooring mats such as these (https://allgaragefloors.com/best-garage-floor-mat-snow/) but wanted to throw this question out to the goons on this forum.

wait, you’re parking on the mats you’ll be using to get swole?

yeah - it’s a tiny 1 car garage that my car will be parked when im not using the gym. I am building a strongman setup under my deck (stones, sandbags, keg, tire) but the garage will serve for the squat rack, 100lb bag, and attack bike

i use those interlocking pads when i train in my garage. easy enough to put together/pull apart and store when not in use. if you go with those, i suggest the thicker pads. the thin ones suck.

Park in your driveway.

Set your gym up on the drive way. Weld your max squat weights to the bar. Be Alpha.

i have 1/2 horse mats already and it’s not feasible to assemble/disassemble before/after use that’s why i am going over options for putting a tarp down when i drive in.

BWYF - i dont have a driveway, i live directly in the city (Dorchester to be specific) and i dont want to park my car in street parking full time.

Man what is happening to Boston? Next there will be high end condos in Hyde park. As if cities could be any more insufferable.

Boston’s def gentrified and expanding due to the tech scene. that said, my neighborhood was a bit rough when i moved in but i can say with certainty that is of the past.

Red Flags For Gentrified Neighborhood: I live fairly close to the beach and there is a quasi-dog park (red flag 1) in which all the dog owners congregate. Over the past year my wife and i have got fairly close with everyone who meets there, around 15 ppl total and we’ve come to realize around half of them are gay (red flag 2), not that theres anythign wrong w that. a couple days ago one of the dudes brought boxed wine and cheese. On this day i retired my EDC.

back on subject, need my mats clean bro.

I don’t know if your goals here are compatible. If you drive into the garage with snow and sh*t on the tires, you’re not doing anything clean on that same surface. Either you have to roll something on top of that stuff, or you need to segment a portion of your garage as the workout area.

Yeah, you’re going to have to put a tarp down when you park in snowy weather and take the tarp off to workout.

I used to use some form of a light foldable canvas that would go over the horse mats or whatever. It can be laid on the mats in less than 4 minutes and taken off in even less time. But I would still go to the gym. Working out at home sucks.

if you dont have space! you dont have space! go workout at a gym!

I plan to keep my gym membership, this is more for when i need quick sessions or want to do a 2 a day. I suppose a tarp it is

Home gyms def dont have the yoga pants roaming around but there are some positives to that. To start, im less likely to hurt myself showing off to girls who have no feel for weights as is (i.e. i told my wife i was box squatting 495 and she shrugged it off…). Secondly, i get to blast music. Its good to have the earphones but nothing beats some high decimals of “I will be heard”. Finally, aside from the not having to wait on anything, you control the temperature. I will blast the heat, tuck my sweats in and rain sweat.

Go workout in pokhim’s house and ogle at his wife.
