GIPS - can we indicate it on marketing materials

Hi,

Even if a firm is GIPS compliant, is it a violation to indicate that it’s “GIPS compliant” in marketing materials (presentations, fact sheets,…).

Thanks

If I remember well, the problem is that many companies “believe” they are GIPS compliant, but they may not. Check the requirements to be really GIPS compliant. This problem rises because there is no central supervisor that regulates who is and who is not in GIPS compliant.

Hope this helps.

It’s not a violation if you follow the rest of the GIPS advertising guidelines or include a compliant presentation at the end of the marketing material. I can’t recall everything in the advertising guidelines at the moment but it’d include things like the definition of the firm, composite description, how to obtain a compliant presentation, etc.
