Hello everyone.I have been reading the forum occasionally but now I have some serious questions requiring your knowledge and experience.I would very much appreciate your help.
I’ll cut a long story short:
1)I am graduating from Athens University of Economics and Business in Greece(far from Ivy League that is…)
2)I am half British and plan to move to the UK sometime in the future
3)Ultimately I would like to pursue a career in investment management
However,I believe it will be difficult to start a finance career with the degree I have either in Greece(where hiring due to the huge recession is very limited) or the UK.So I was thinking to try and start as an accountant which is far easier to do in Greece, gather some work experience and then move to the UK doing the same.My idea was to try and get the ACCA or ACA certification and about 4 years of working experience and then trying to do the best Master in Finance I can get admitted to.
Also,I have read that you can pass CFA level 1 without any work experience needed. If this is true,do you think it would be a better idea to do so and pursue a finance career directly in the UK?
Please be honest with me,don’t worry about hurting my feelings
And thank you very much in advance.
