Gun talk... looking for a .308 semi-auto rifle

They already exist, Greenie that’s what the extended clips do, they are molded at the base to extend the grip.

Sigh.

Valued colleagues—

I own and use guns. I’m a pro-gun American.

But I strongly believe that this forum is NOT an appropriate one on which to have such discussions. Non-charterholders want to learn about the CFA tests, the curriculum, service-providers, etc. Unless that curriculum has changed hugely, I cannot imagine that there’s anything about guns on any of the tests.

Ooops. Thank you so much. I didn’t know there was any such thing as ‘The Watercooler.’ I do appreciate being apprised of that fact.

lol this isnt even the worst of the threads. id actually consider the topic here mild.

CW, if you’re going full frame you can look at Glocks are simple, tried true and cheap but a very safe gun, M&P 9 is great but another classic that shoots like a Ferrari is the Beretta 92F. It was my first pistol (still have it) and is such an underrated classic. It’s not tactically as great as the others (although has ironically seen the most combat) but it just shoots so smooth, has a large grip (arguably too large for small to mid sized hands) and is fantastic. My only gripe is that since my thumb surgery I went from being Butch Cassidy with guns with hammers to whatever is much worse. Anyhow, it’s a super classy / classic gun and Wilson makes a phenomenal heritage piece that shoots like a dream. Centurion Tactical will probably be one of my next buys. However, carrying any of these, especially the Beretta is pretty much out of the question.

Yeah, I’ve tried one, but didn’t like it. Basically, I just don’t like the .380. Feels like a toy.

Have you ever shot a Sig Sauer P365? It’s lighter, smaller, thinner, and packs more ammo than the Shield, but I’ve heard their reliability is a little suspect.

edit - after I wrote this post, I realized that I sound confused. Basically, I like smaller guns, but I don’t like the .380. Basically, I want the smallest gun that I can wrap my hand around and use accurately, and I’ve never felt a .380 that “felt right”. That’s why I stepped up to the 9mm.

I have M&P for conceal and I’ll confirm the trigger sucks but it’s very easy to get it swapped out.

Yeah, I was talking about smaller frames in general, but agree I don’t see the purpose of a 380 and would never own. It is too weak IMO. I can’t envision a scenario where I can’t control a 9mm, which I use because it is already an easy to handle round.

Also, I never shot the Sig P365 I’m sure its great though.

But you have the MA compliant trigger, right? Not fair to compare that to non-MA guns. If I weren’t in a bit of a legal grey area with mine, I’d sell you mine that’s grand fathered in before I left the state. But I never officially changed my license / residency in the 5+ years I lived here so I can’t, lol.

I do yeah so maybe that is it.

So after all this talk, I did wind up settling on what I think will take the place as my go to home defense pistol with the DDM4V7P, grabbed probably one of the last new ones around last night through a broker.

any of you guys have any suppressed guns? I want to get the process going so bad, but I really should be spending money on smarter crap right now.

Where do y’all people live? In my thirty something years, I’ve never been in a situation where I wished I had a knife on me, let alone a gun.

It’s a combination of things, I think, not becoming over reliant on society for survival, managing extreme tail risk, plus they’re fun. But it’s definitely a bit about viewing the home as a castle. It’s not something I think about most times it’s just there.

So my problem is you have to go through the NFA tax stamp process which is if I recall $200 and like a year wait for the review plus submitting the forms and passport photos etc. I did that with my SBR then kind of decided I was done with that. The other side is the silencers are like $800 plus the $200 stamp and you can buy a new gun for about $1000 and the new gun option wins every time for me just for novelty. Also because I never planned on getting a silencer I didn’t buy my guns in 300BLK which is more optimized for that. Which means I know for a fact once I bought a few silencers I would then start a new cycle of buying guns, so I just stay away from that.

For real. They’re so much fun to shoot, but outrageously expensive
