Anyone takes classes from there? Feedback…
don’t bother.
Can u expand…
I’m an alum of the school - ask any questions you have.
yea, don’t bother. While it’s certainly no UofP, Harvard Extension school is no Harvard, either.

Having finished it… does it attract interest from employers? Did you learn alot? What program did you do?

They can’t offer Harvard-level classes because frankly, the general public is not capable of taking the same classes as real Harvard students.
Hello Mister Walrus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They can’t offer Harvard-level classes because > frankly, the general public is not capable of > taking the same classes as real Harvard students. Nonsense – a large constituency of the student population is Harvard staff, professors included, as the school heavily subsidizes employee tuition, ~ $40 a course.

I graduated this past June, ALM-Management, Concentration in Finance. http://www.extension.harvard.edu/management I haven’t tested the market yet, as tuition was paid by my employer. I have another year commitment to my firm for the reimbursement program. Many of my classmates were able to use the program for the career change or promotion initially sought out. Given this is a CFA board, it worthwhile to point out that one of the program candidates I met was a Portfolio Manager at a major bank. He was using the degree to shore up his academic credentials to move into more a executive role. I initially enrolled in the program to complement CFA studies. However, once enrolled, I decided to commit my time toward the master’s program. One of the most enjoyable classes I took was a Corp. Finance class: http://www.extension.harvard.edu/2009-10/courses/13346.jsp?caller=dce Also, should anyone need a prep provider for Level I, the school rolled out a CFA course: http://www.extension.harvard.edu/2009-10/courses/23316.jsp Yankees98 - keep your questions coming - I’ll give you a fair assessment of my experience, both the good and bad. I had a very enjoyable and rewarding experience in my studies.
Harvard extension carries zero weight in the Boston buy-side financial community. BU’s MSIM probably is a better choice for a career in IM. I knew a few people who attended Harvard extension. - One of my buddy dropped out of high school and started taking courses at Harvard extension when he was 16 and started undergrad at a state school he then finished up undergrad and is now at Columbia law school. - Rich kid from the middle east who was doing the Master’s in management. I have no clue whatever happened to him. Tons of people in that program are immigrants with a professional degree in their native country or non-traditional students.
No doubt you take this program to have the Harvard name. You know how many marriage proposals you can get in the middle east, with saying you are a Harvard Alum?
I was going to take some of the software engineering and Math classes. Not to have another degree but a certificate

You can still earn a citation in a few fields by taking 4 courses: http://www.extension.harvard.edu/2009-10/courses/citations/ BiPolarBoyBoston Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Harvard extension carries zero weight in the Boston buy-side financial community. Not sure that is true, I met several people at buy side shops in class - including me. Most were taking advantage of tuition reimbursement plans. > Tons of people in that program are immigrants with a professional degree in their native country or non-traditional students. As of this year, the extension school no longer issues Student Visas to international students- Nonetheless, several of the international students in my graduating class were spouses of HBS students.

People go there to actually learn something, like a language or pick up a finance course. It’s no good for the brand name.
