I agree that statistics can tell a more holistic story. However, it does seem like a poor decision to choose hitchhiking as a primary method of travel when you are a foreign woman wandering around a poor country.
This just shows how desensitized and complacent our world has become over the years. People need to realize that not everything is a one-off event… hopefully other women learn from this.

^ Thing is, I think it was pretty rampant back in these celebrities’ haydays (I wasn’t alive so probably talking out of my arse). Celebrities like Beiber still have underage girls throwing themselves at them, it’s just suicide nowadays to do (or get caught doing) anything with them. I’m sure it was a lot easier and dare I say acceptable to take advantage of underage groupies back then.
This new case is to do with Pakistanis grooming girls for sex. It’s not the first time either. They groom white girls, use them for their fetish, and then marry some brown girl to keep up appearances.
Once again, we in the west are too accommodating of other people’s beliefs and cultures. Why do we always have to bend over backwards for these “communities”? Then when we don’t they get upset.
