Hoka Gaviota

Just went to my local athletic store, and they recommended this shoe. I tried it on, and it was super-duper comfy. Has anybody heard of this brand before?

Yeah they were a big new entrant like 10 years ago with the Hoka One when I was really into running with a major campaign. I never wore them myself or knew anyone that did though so that’s all I can offer. I could never get past how the soles looked. Seems like a heavy design and the heel to toe drop seems high for me.

I would take up running if all of the shoes weren’t so ugly

Hokas have a serious following especially the marathoners.

Yeah, I don’t doubt it. For some reason I just never really checked them out.

Someone downvoted Greenman for his interest in sneakers? What happened to Yayywork? Did he get so many downvotes that his account was shut down?

Anyway, G have you worn stability or motion control shoes before? That, and the wideness, is probably why you find them comfortable. These shoes are designed for people who don’t have good foot arches, and they support your foot for running long distances. I wear shoes like this too, but maybe without such an aggressive support.

yaywork transcended to yee

Considering that I don’t know what they are…no.

If they’re not New Balance 623’s, then I haven’t worn them. At least not in many years.

The local running store made me stand and walk across some kind of sensor. They said that I supinate really badly (I knew that already) and that I put a lot of pressure on my heels and balls (of my feet, that is), and very little pressure on the bridge between the two (whatever it’s called). They recommended this shoe plus some inserts.

And I must say, it feels like walking on clouds of marshmallows and rainbows. Still breaking the shoes in, but so far I really like them, as ugly as they may be.

Recall, too, that I’m not planning on running long distances. If I ever build up to it, a 10k is probably as good as it gets. I’m not trying to be a pro athlete or an ACE. I just want to be able to fit in a size 6XL again.

lol dayum son! sign up for the biggest loser!

Look like ankle breakers to me, too much cushioning you lose feel for the road. If you like cushioning try the Brooks Ghost or Glycerin – friggin awesome.

Have you considered these impeccably stylish shoes?
