Same here. The MC mocks do not take 3 hours. There’s very few calculations on them so you can pretty much breeze through 60 questions. I’m running about 2 hours as well and that also included a quick break or 2. Hope the actual PM exam is the same way.
Judging from the practice exams I’ve done, I think they could realistically make the PM section 2 hours. Unfortunately I could use that spare time in the AM. Anyway, on the upside I’ll hopefully get out of there early.
besides the point? i think my example is very much too the point. Schweser literally used an actual CFA exam paper to recreate their own question. (except the only thing they did was rename it).
i also dont think any of us know how far back the question pool exists that the CFA uses to create exams. especially L3. so I wouldn’t discount a 9 year window.
i get what youre saying about Schweser quality but get what im saying too. don’t try to discredit what i said just by saying things like “doesnt mean much” and “quite besides the point”. I used facts and reality to try and play devil’s advocate not words.
Jsobes - it worries me that you thought that question was solid. it was a gimme if you ask me… and spending 12 hours (full half-day) on that worries me even more.
I mean in that the writing of it was solid - I could actually understand it, versus, idk, number 2A where they ask for us to calcuate the required return for a year 20 years before retirement where the dollar amount is actually the required dollar amount return needed 20 years in the future for retirement - which makes absolutely no fundamental sense.
I spend about 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon on studying for this test, and out of it I usually get a solid 3 hours of learning in the AM and 2-2.5hours in the PM. I mean going through these schweser exams to pull out 1 or 2 useful questions is a waste of time for half of my day’s studying, when I could be reviewing the CFAI exams or rereading the texts. I was angry at schweser after finishing that exam on Sunday morning, having anxiety over not understanding the Individual investment section only to realize I know exactly what I’m doing and the question was preposterous.
yes. i agree and totally get what youre saying. from here on out time is better spent with CFAI and not schweser. didnt mean to make it an issue.
We are good! I think we’re all taking every sentence we read a little too serioulsy heading into this exam LOL
I started on the Schweser mocks, but quickly lost interest and decided to redo all CFAI AM paper & CFAI Mocks instead.
one thing that annoys me about cfai pm mocks is that more than a couple vignettes are exactly same year over year.
HOW U GUYD DID on CFA 2015 morning mock consisting concetrated + AI itemsets
I found this toughest mock of CFA for last many years
Where is Alternative, 5-15% should all in PM as well??
72% on the 2011 AM essay mock. I thought the IPS questions in that year’s mock were by far the most complicated or/or confusing of the 4 mocks i’ve taken thus far. Ended up in the 60% on the individual/institutional but made up for it later. Confidence is building while the nerves can’t be settled.
Scores so far:
2014 (April) : 52% first try, 73% second try
2013: 67%
2012: 63%
2011 (Now): 72%
How do you grade your CFAI AM Mocks? The Guideline Answers have no point assignment system like Schweser…
Well said and it applies to me too although my scores are not as good as yours…Confidence building but anxious too. At times I feel there is nothing much left to study and then have to motivate myself by saying “only one more week…keep going” as i know there is still lot to cover and dont want to leave single brownie point in the exam. In the end, luck of course is very crucial to get us through.

It’s quite easy to figure out. Eg name a strategy and give two arguments for 5 points. 1 will be for the strategy, 2 each for the reasons (only if strategy was right). Or circle 3 parts and give a reason each die 9 minutes. 1 for each circle, 2 for each reason… Basically everything except calculations can be graded that way. They are very consistent with that way. Possibly because it makes hedging your answer not worth it…
Have given 6 Papers (3 Schweser and 3 CFA) and dont seem to be crossing the 60% mark for AM. PM is manageable. Totally shattered.
Level II seems so much more easier now!!
Average of ~84% across 9 PM mocks, all guesses counted as wrong. Haven’t been keeping track of morning section scores.
If this is true then you are an absolute machine. Just make sure you draw some pictures on the AM exam and you’ll pass.
scored 68-70% in 2011, 2012 & 2013 actual CFA AMs.
Strong candidates in here.
I actually suck
Did 1 PM mock : got 58 %
Did 3 AM actual exams : got 39 %, then 50 %, then 55 %.
At least there is a steady improvement in my AM scores. I really hope to reach the 65 % bar on both AM’s and PM’s in the next 5 days.
