I’m 29. I will pass Level 2 in June (positive reinforcement!)
What kind of finance roles are more or less out of reach at this point? I have 2 years of corporate finance experience and a pretty good grad degree. Hoping to move into something directly investments-related.
I’'m 32, have a chequered resume and I’ve just broken into investment research… Oh yeah did I mention I’m a woman, too? Of colour!! And I have three nostrils and a receding hairline so beat that!
If you’re hungry for it, you’ll do WHATEVER it takes until you are where you want to be…Despite what the naysayers claim. If you listen to them you won’t succeed, trust me.
Still trying to work out why that was so funny… Or, for that matter, the relevance of an R’n’B song (about relationships, might I add!), which came out some twenty years ago, to the Op’s original question.
Clearly, the naysayers not only possess a certain narrow mindedness about them but a poor taste in humour, too!
semantics, you have probably heard this before but it really IS about networking and being genuinely interested in investment analysis rather than the perceived glamour associated with it. This will probably naturally shine through when you talk to people.
IMHO, you should put all the emotion to one side and focus that energy instead on learning about investing etc.
But you say you already have 2years worth of CF experience so comparatively, this should be a walk in the park for you shouldn’t it?
Semantics what do you want to do? IB you would prob need a MBA to come in as an asscociate. Most shops won’t bring you in as an analyst simply because at your age you’re more likely to have outside responsibilities.
There are plenty of finance roles and most of them age doesn’t matter, just experience.
